It has been awhile since I last did a blog post for the site, so there are a few things to catch up on with regard to Paphos. The company which runs the airport at Paphos as said it is outraged at the 2 hour strikes that have taken place during the day by members of staff. These strikes have come as the tourist town enters the height of the summer season where it can expect thousands of visitors to flock to its beautiful beaches and water parks.

The Government in Cyprus was meant to be handling the ongoing talks between the two sides but obviously something went wrong and the staff decided to walk out leaving many passengers stranded.

The Cyprus parliament has given the go-ahead for a new Island-wide bus service thereby connecting all the major hubs such as Paphos and Nicosia. This is really good news and something the Island has been in need of for some time.

According to the Cyprus Mail tourism officials from Paphos are in Israel in an attempt to attract more tourists to the tourist town. With the economic outlook of Europe, not too great at the moment. Paphos is looking further afield in a bid to entice tourists to the town.

Will it work? Who knows but they are targeting the wedding market which is a good growth area for the region. Up to know, most of the foreign weddings have been with British couples but now tourism cheifs are targeting Israel in an attempt to woo. couples from their to get married.
